PURPOSE

To locate and lock in a standard tubing upset, or collar.
 
DESCRIPTION

The “D” Lock mandrels have internal fishing necks, and consist of 9 components;
1. Fish Neck
2. Locking Sleeve
3. Outer Sleeve
4. Collet Lock
5. Lock mandrel
6. Dogs
7. Packing Mandrel
8. O Ring Cage
9. Element Expander
 

OPERATION

Attach the “D” lock mandrel to the D Running Tool and lower into wellbore to desired depth, bring the tool string to a stop, this will allow the dogs contact the tubing wall. Pull up slowly, the dogs will locate in the recess of the coupling, pull tension into the lock and set element.

Jar up to shear off Running tool and retrieve tool string from the wellbore.

To retrieve the D Lock mandrel, install extended core into the proper size GS pulling tool and lower into
wellbore, set down on top of Lock mandrel and jar down to unlock the “locking sleeve”, relax the element, and latch into the fishneck, remove tool string from wellbore.
 

PRECAUTIONS

Sand or debris may hinder the running or pulling process, always take note of pressure differentials.
